Updated to Windows 10, July 30th. Everything works fine, till I noticed there is no sound. I run a test and then it give me an error saying that "Failed to Play Test Tone".

I have reinstalled the drivers and still no sound came out. I went under properties of the Sound Card, clicked on Update Driver, to which then asked me to search automatically for updated driver software, or to browse my computer for driver software. My Sound has started to work. Problem fixed? Windows 10 is said that drivers and applications would be compatible, but why are we getting these problems.

Follow these steps to update drivers and have sound Activated. Log into computer as Administrator. Search for Sound Video and Game Controllers and expand it. Right click on the sound card driver and select Update device software. In the next screen enable check box - show compatible hardware. Restart the computer and notice sound is active. I had the same issue with my ThinkPad T The problem is that Windows 7 drivers are not completely compatible with Windows You will need to download and update the drivers from the computer manufacturer to a version made for at least Windows 8.

That is what worked for me. As a side-note I found that the Conexant audio drivers for Windows 8. I had to go into the enhancement settings Sound control panel Enhancements and enable Loudness Equalization to get the volume corrected.

I had the same problem, this fixed it for me: Windows upgrade took the old Windows 7 Conexant driver which does not work under Windows 10 I deinstalled the Conexant Audio device in the Devicemanager an ticked the "remove driver" button. Afterwards i pressed on "check for new devices" and Windows 10 installed an generic driver. It is now installed as "High definition audio device" and works as it should.
